Prior to practicing law, Derek practiced as a physical therapist in Ontario and Alberta, including work with the National Senior Men’s Rugby Team. He was also involved in an international development project in Kosovo where he instructed courses in physical therapy and assisted with curriculum and policy development.

Following the completion of his law degree at the University of Calgary, Derek joined DLBH as an articling student. Derek was called to the Alberta Bar in 2009 and has remained with DLBH as an associate. He currently maintains a general litigation and corporate commercial practice in addition to wills and estates and real estate transactions.

In his spare time, Derek enjoys skiing, golfing and hockey, as well as spending time with his young family. Derek is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
